Kenya Airways announces extensive schedule enhancements

Monday, 20th July 2009……Kenya Airways has today announced extensive enhancements to its Mombasa flight schedule, including increasing its weekly flights from the current 27 to 58 flights per week, beginning this month.

The carrier has also introduced a special price offer to Mombasa of Shs 5,500 return and Shs 2,750 one way exclusive of taxes.

The airline will fly the larger Boeing 767-300ER which can accommodate up to 250 passengers to serve the high frequency Mombasa route on Wednesdays and weekends, depending on demand.

Kenya Airways Chief Operating Officer, Bram Steller said the new enhancements are in response to increased demand from business and tourist travelers.

“We are fully committed to offering a superior, value driven product that gives travelers a reason to choose us over the competition,” Steller said.
“We’ve already seen stronger customer response to our more aggressive pricing strategy and continued focus on customer service excellence, resulting in record bookings over the past month. With today’s announcement, we offer great service and customer-friendly schedules to all the towns we serve from our JKIA hub.”

Today’s announcement is part of a series of product and service enhancements focusing on  customer value and convenience that Africa’s leading carrier is launching throughout 2009.

The airline is also gearing up to launch three weekly flights to Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana, on 3rd September.

The introduction of flights to Gaborone will bring to 35 the number of African destinations that KQ flies to. Bram Steller says that, “travellers on this route are expected to benefit greatly from the superb connections that KQ’s network provides to destinations across Africa.”

Despite the global economic crisis, Kenya Airways has continued to invest heavily in expanding its network to cater for the growing needs of the African traveller. Earlier last month, the airline commenced operations to Libreville in Gabon. The thrice weekly have provided huge benefits to the vibrant trader and mining sectors of Gabon.

This route expansion has been accompanied by fleet modernization and a commitment to promotion safety and growing aviation standards in the continent. Boasting one of the youngest fleets in Sub-Saharan African, KQ’s 25 aircraft fleet is poised to deliver a superior flying experience and increased cargo capacity.
