Kenya Airways To Launch Flights to Botswana
15th July 2009:- Kenya Airways in partnership with Air Botswana will launch flights to Gaborone in September this year. The thrice weekly flights will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays under a code share arrangement with Air Botswana.
This is a realization of a vision to increase the airlines’ presence in Botswana after opening an office in Gaborone in October 2008. The BP slogan “going your way” is perfectly in sync with KQ’s “The Pride of Africa”.
Travellers in and out Botswana now have an alternative travel hub of Jomo Kenyatta International Hub through which to access destinations in the rest of Africa, Europe, Far East and the Middle East. Our Gaborone service will see both the Boeing 737 – 700 and -800 touching down at Sir Seretese Khama International Airport. Both the dash 700/800 has sixteen Premier World Business class seats, seated two abreast and economy cabins of 100 and 129 respectively
The travel times for these flights with departure from Nairobi at 0720. and arrival at 1705 on Tuesday, Friday and departure 2000 on Saturday arrival 0620on Sunday will mean that passengers can access the vast KQ African Network. Gaborone becomes the 35th African destination in the KQ network with recent additions being Libreville, Gabon and Congo Brazzaville. In addition to this, Kenya Airways has revamped its schedule to provide greater flexibility to its traveler. Johannesburg currently enjoys three frequencies per day, with Lusaka, Lagos and Acrra which are key travel destinations for Botswana travellers boasting daily frequencies.
Group CEO Titus Naikuni also expressed optimism that this new route, “will enjoy support from the people of Botswana who can now enjoy the tremendous advantage of our network and that of our Skyteam partners.”
