KQ supports school project in Kisii
Tuesday, September 22, 2009: Kenya Airways today commissioned a secondary school project in Kisii town as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
The airline fully renovated classrooms, administrative block and staffroom and installed a gate to improve security at a cost of Kshs 2 million.
The project which started in November, last year; has given a complete facelift to Riobara PAG Secondary School in a bid to improve learning facilities for about 250 students and staff.
“This investment to the community aims to ensure that students access better facilities in a conducive learning environment which is part of our contribution to the sustainable development of this country,” Human Resources Director Mr Paul Kasimu said during the handing over ceremony.
He said it was important to raise education standards in the country so as to create skilled manpower relevant in today’s aemployment arena.
Kenya Airways supports selected projects within communities in the countries within its network specifically focusing on education, environment, water and health.
The airline flies to 44 destinations across Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
Among the education projects that Kenya Airways has supported include Dzorwulu Special School for the mentally challenged children in Accra, Ghana.
In the Ghana project, Kenya Airways constructed two classroom blocks fully-equipped with educational material, desks and sanitation facilities.
Other education projects supported by KQ include Farasi Lane Primary School in Nairobi in which the airline renovated 14 classrooms and the administrative block.
