Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong Province in southern China. Located as part of the Pearl River Delta, Guangzhou lies between 112°57'E to 114°3'E and 22°26'N to 23°56'N. The city spreads across 7, 434 sq. km.
It has a population of 12.6 million and is the most populous city in the province.

Local dialects include Yue (Cantonese), Wu (Shanghaiese), Minbei (Fuzhou), Minnan (Hokkien-Taiwanese), Xiang, Gan, Hakka dialects, and other minority languages. Most tourist hotels have staff that are fluent in foreign languages.
